April Capone Almon

Democratic Town Council Candidate District 3 East Haven

 

·  Born March 30, 1975 the second daughter of Frank and Judy (Mattie) Capone of Robin Drive in the Foxon section of East Haven.

· Attended D.H. Ferrara Elementary School and East Haven Middle School.

·Graduated East Haven High School class of 1993.  President of EHHS Drama Club, member of EHHS Chorus, Flutist EEHS Concert Band and Bassist EHHS Jazz Band.

· Recipient of the 1993 Anthony Cretella college scholarship for musically inclined students.

·Graduated University of New Haven 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts, Music and Sound Engineering and Bachelor of Arts, Business Administration.

·Relocated to Biloxi, Mississippi in 1997 to work as a Stage Electrician for Cirque du Soleil.

·Volunteered as an adult literacy tutor in Gulfport Mississippi.

·Married (Harold) Regan Almon, a native of Tampa, Florida, in 1999 at a civil ceremony at Light House Point Park.

·Returned to New Haven area in 2000 and began work with Worldwide Travel, a family-owned business located in East Haven. 

·Became a board member of the Alan Hodes Memorial Committee in 2000 to benefit the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp for Kids.

· Joined the National Organization for Women in 2001 to promote gender equality.

·Reduced role in family business to return to school in 2003. 

· Became an East Haven resident again with the 2004 completion of a new family home in the Foxon area.

· Joined the East Haven Democratic Town Committee shortly after returning to town.

·Sworn-in 2004 as a Justice of the Peace with the Democratic Party of East Haven.

·Graduated Southern Connecticut State University 2005 with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration.

·Currently employed as a Data Analyst in the telecommunications industry.
